This weekend we were finally able to take our trip to Tennessee with our best friends the Ruzas. We had planned to go last January but it had to be postponed due to Stephen's deployment to Haiti. But we all made it safe and sound and had such a super time together. Here is Sam,5, Amelia,7, Abby, 7, and Luke,5 who have been friends since birth. Can't believe how grown up they are all getting.
Love these sweet girls.
Abby and Amelia each brought a suitcase entirely filled with American Girl doll clothes and dolls. It was so cute watching them set up a whole dressing room for their dolls. Each night they put jammies on the dolls and put them to bed and then dressed them the next day for various activities. I know it won't be long before the dolly days are gone but I am glad they are still here.
Addison enjoying the fall leaves. Our families stayed in a giant log cabin on a horse farm. The children had acres and acres to explore all day and boy did they. They hiked all over the forest and played in the creek the entire weekend.
Meet the best babysitter ever. This is Jake the Great Dane. He and his sister, Ginger, took great care of the kids this weekend. They never left the kids' sides and even would sleep on the front porch waiting for the kids to wake up again the next morning. The poor owner kept trying to get them to come home but the dogs were having too much fun with our kids. They were truly gently giants. They would follow the kids on the trails making sure everyone was okay, it was so neat.
Here is a picture of all the kids with Ginger.
We were in a VERY small town in TN but the town had a festival called Goats and More Festival. Well how could we pass that up? It was um, a lot of goats.
Addison petting goats.
This is where the kids were most of the weekend. It was a shallow spring filled creek and they caught frogs all weekend. The kids were thoroughly wet, muddy and tired every night, exactly how kids should be on vacation. I am still trying to dig dirt out of finger and toenails.
My best friend in the whole world, my Marcie.
All five of us.
I had to get a picture of Chris on the blog. Here are the adults enjoying a jug of Margaritas and smores.
Abby and Amelia dressed their American Girl dolls for the horseback ride later in the day. Amelia even had on real horseback riding pants, thanks Grandma Nancy.
The boys showing me how much fun they were having.
The kids in front of our cabin.
The kids got to ride the horse as much as they wanted so they rode together, separately, switched horses, etc. Eventually the boys realized their nether-regions were getting a little sore and they were done on the horses.
The boys with the horses. This was Luke's first time on a horse so he was pretty excited.
Amelia and her doll Kirsten taking a ride.
Don't worry, Addison got a horse ride too. Oh wait, that is Jake again. She actually did sit up on the horses too but we didn't let her ride. She just pet the horses and kissed them.
Just a stinkin' cute picture of Addison. This outfit was Abby's when she was a little girl, then Abby passed it down to Amelia and now Amelia passed it down to Addison.
The whole gang. This picture makes me want to go back, what a fun trip and a fun family.
We also visited a tiny, and I mean tiny town, and they had a Railroad museum. The kids ran around and played on the trains and had typical kid fun.
Time for an ice cream at an old fashioned ice cream parlor.
One of the many meals we shared at the cabin. One big happy family. We love you Ruzas and can't wait to do it all again!
