More Pickleball!

Kirstin was my tennis partner years ago and was the one to bring me into the pickleball family.  We played our first tournament together and played in 4.0+.

We won bronze and were thrilled with that!

My mixed partner, Brad, and I played in 4.0+ and we won gold!
Once again, we were the last ones at the tournament and had to turn the lights off.  We arrived at 7am for warm up and didn't finish until 10pm!
It was a long day of intense pickleball but so fun!

Stephen took some great action shots of me playing pickleball!

I tend to be smiling a lot on the court!

Odds and Ends

Although fall fun and school is entirely altered this year due to Covid, we tried to capture some of the things that still felt semi normal.
Luke is a big freshman now and loves to go to the football games and he and his friends "paint up" for all the games and sit in the student section.  This picture was before they had their letters painted on.  I think they do it since the cheerleaders "paint" them :)

Ooops.  Luke slammed his finger in the car door and broke his finger.
Forced break from tennis.

Addison hanging out with her church buddies always feels right.

Oh.my.word.
Luke got his permit...on the second try.

Seniors rule!
And they get to wear their crowns to prove it!
Go Hounds!

Painting up for the Homecoming Game so they had to be fancy!
(No Homecoming Dance this year) :(

Little bit and I enjoying a walk and coffee with daddy on a gorgeous day.

Pickleball!!! Atlanta Open

Jessie Irving, Irina Tereschenko and me :)
As Covid and quarantine continued in 2020, I found myself with more free time due to lack of PTO meetings, church meetings, any social life (Ha!), kids activities being cancelled, etc.  But Pickleball was still available!  So when the courts came back open, I started getting really into it and started drilling and playing a lot more often and what do you know, I started to get better! :)
My mixed doubles partner, Brad, and I continued to practice and Stephen had the great idea of us playing in our first tournament!   And it was a biggie!  The Atlanta Georgia Open and by the way, it was a PPA event!  Which means all of the pro pickleball players play in the same tournament!  (Not at my 3.5 level of course, at the pro level).
So off we went to Atlanta hoping we would not embarrass ourselves.
The PPA events are so fun though because in between our own matches, we could interact and watch the pros.  All of whom, are entirely gracious and good sports about talking with us!  We had so much fun watching hours upon hour upon hours of pickleball.

Me and Catherine Parenteau

Me and Simmone Jardim, number one pickleball player in the world!

Lucy Kovalova and me :)

And what do you know???
We went undefeated and won the gold medal!!
It was an amazing weekend!

How could we not win after Addison made this sweet sign for us?

Riley Newman, me and Tyson Mcguffin :)

Me and Jeff Warnick, he's 6'7" and so fun to watch on the courts!

Luke's 15th Birthday!

This guy with the surfer locks turned 15!
Happy Birthday Luke, we love you so much!

Addison made and decorated the birthday cake for Luke!

Luke celebrated with his best buddies for his birthday.  Couldn't ask for a better group of boys, it has been so fun watching them grow up together!

Love seeing my little man laugh.

Happy Birthday Luke Michael!
We are proud of you and love you with all our hearts!
