The Ruzas Family Visits!

We were so excited to have the Ruzas family back in MIssissippi again!

The Ruzas family were our very best friends and neighbors when we lived in Indiana.  We are so blessed to have kept these friendships even after 10 years of moving to Mississippi.  We all just slip right back into the fun, like we have never been apart.

Pool day!

Luke-11, Sam-12, Addison-8, Amelia-13, Abby-14
The older kids have been friends since birth and our visits are always full of home movies and telling the kids about when they were little.

Tubing!

This game was the kids favorite and they literally spent HOURS playing this all over the Gulf Coast, no matter where we anchored the boat.  Basically they would all try to balance and stand up at the same time and then Chris would yank the rope as hard as he could and see if anyone was left standing.  They pretty much ended up flying into the water every time.  They loved it and Chris was a rock star and never told them ENOUGH!

Wouldn't be a Ruzas trip without heading out to Horn Island!
All cleaned up for dinner :)  We have some cute kids!

The hubby's enjoyed a giant bucket of some crazy concoction!

Big girls took a kayak ride on a beautiful day!

The grown ups even got a night out!  Yay for big kids that can babysit!

More fun times on the boat!

Love you Ruzas!  Can't wait til you come back!

SUMMER!

Summer vacation!
Yay!
Summer started with a pool party!

There goes Luke!

Addison and her buddy, Hope enjoying the pool party!

Followed by a trip out to Horn Island the next day!
We love summer vacation!
Amelia was little Ms. Social Butterfly the first week of summer vacation,
she was a constant pool parties and sleep overs so she didn't get any photo ops.

Addison's Big Week

Addison's last week of school contained lots of fun events like the talent show, end of the year picnic and awards day!
Addison was so incredibly brave because she stood up in front of her entire school and sang "In Christ Alone" for the talent show.  It was so moving and sweet, we were so proud of her.

Here  she is, brave little 8 year old singing about her Savior.
She was adamant about which verses she wanted to fit into the 2 minute time limit because she wanted to share the whole message of Jesus, from his birth to his crucifixion to his resurrection.   The cheers and claps were deafening for that little girl when she finished her song.  It was precious.
The teachers of the school hugged her and gushed on her and told her what an important message she shared and Addison sure brought tears to a lot of eyes that day.
Sweet baby girl.

The next day was awards day and parents get sent an invite but we had not told Addison we got one so she was so happy and surprised to see us because then she knew she was getting an award.
And although this is bragging, it is my blog...so, oh well.
This isn't one of those every kid gets an award type of thing.  This is only the top three in each grade get an award!  So for Addison, that is six 2nd grade classes she is competing with!

This is when her name was announced for the 2nd grader with the most Accelerated Reader points!  She had 237 points!
She did a double fist pump because she was so excited.

Proud of you little bit!
First place!

Showing off her trophy to mom and dad!
Way to go Addison!

She got called up again for achieving Star Reader status which is an achievement based on not just points but on the high level of books she is reading.
Big day for Addison Kate!
