Fourth Grade Wrap Up

The end of the year is filled with parties, field days, picnics, reward days and basically, fun, fun, fun!
Amelia and her buds at field day.

New version of the three-legged race...the balance the frisbee while your wrists are tied together race?

Go Mimi Go!

Amelia also had her fourth grade awards ceremony and it's moments like this one that you get to see your child how others see your child. Amelia is such a special kid and we are so proud of her every day.  However, it is spectacular when she gets recognition for wonderfulness.
I chose not to put pictures like this on social media sites for all sorts of reasons...mostly it seems braggy and I would not want anyone to feel bad that has a kid that struggles in school and does not have this kind of day.  However, my blog is just that, my blog.  So let the bragging commence!  Amelia received a crazy amount of rewards for academic achievement, including highest honors for science, math and social studies.  So proud of our baby, who takes it all in stride.

Amelia with her 4th grade teachers Ms. Cooper and Ms. Rice.  I was happy to see Amelia up there getting so many awards but I was equally happy to see all of her close friends receiving awards too.  As we shuttle these little humans through this scary world, part of our job is teaching them to make good choices.  Amelia has so far done a great job on choosing great, sweet friends that are on the same path she is.  I hope she continues on this path for years to come.  Way to go Amelia Grace!

Flips and Sticks

Addison finished up her year of gymnastics with a "show your parents your skills day."

Handstand pro.

Making sure we are watching her every move.

Look at the concentration on her little face.

It must be hard to balance with that toddler belly throwing her off kilter.  I call it her "toddler belly," Stephen calls it her "I eat tons more dessert and junk food than my brother or sister ever did at four years old."  Whatev, same-o, same-o.

Cutest gymnasts ever.

TAKE-THE-PICTURE-MOM!

Ta-Da!

Tuck jump on the tumble track.

Sweetest thing in a leotard ever.

What we have been busy doing...

Anti-bullying campaigns at school.  (Luke and his best friend Braden).

Having sleepovers with friends.

Catching and re-catching lots of turtles and lizards.

Boat hopping!  We were out on our boat after school last week and look who we ran into?  Our besties, the Neffs, on their new boat.

Becoming ParrotHeads at Margaritaville.

Run Forest Run!

Stephen has gotten really into running during this past year.  He is so thankful to have his health back and he feels so great that he does not want to take it for granted.  He decided to do a 5K a couple of weeks ago and he won first place!  I was supportive to the extent of, "great job honey...see you on the tennis court."  BUT THEN...

These are my friends-they are runners.  And by runners, I mean RUNNERS!  They compete in triathlons, marathons, 5Ks, 10Ks regularly.  I have managed to stay friends with them despite their insanity.  The most running I do is just enough to get to a tennis ball.  Generally, they leave me alone and don't peer pressure me to run with them.  But last week, Wednesday, my friend Jenny texted me "Derek and I are going to do a 5K Friday night and then get some beers."  I texted her back, "Sounds great except for the run part."  So on Friday night I find myself with all of my crazy friends, who medal at these type of events, about to run 3 miles in the pouring rain and wind.

This one, this is the one who keeps getting me involved in these crazy things.
J Bo and J Go
(Jenni BOskovich and Jenny GOrdan

After the race...of course my husband and friends were done long before me but they came back and found me on the course and ran with me to the finish.  I ran the race in under 30 minutes which was the goal I gave myself in order to not totally embarrass myself.

Finally, the beer!  The things I will do for free beer.

Steve placed 2nd in his age division, right behind our friend, Mark Roberts.  I was super irritated that the race didn't give out medals for my 105th place.

Grandma Joan visit

Grandma Joan came for a visit this past week and the kids were excited to take her out to the island.
TA DA!! says Luke.

It was fun for the kids to get to spend time with Grandma Joan.  Come back soon Grandma, we miss you.
