Our final full day of our trip was Thanksgiving Day so of course we wanted to let the kids experience the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
After a warm breakfast we headed out to scope out a spot.
We got to this spot about 8:30, the parade started at 9. So it was a lot easier than we had anticipated.
Also, right behind us was a beautiful mall with clean bathrooms without any lines!
The vehicles behind the kids are SWAT vans. The security surrounding the parade was unlike anything I have ever experienced.
SWAT trucks, garbage trucks, salt trucks, etc blocked every single intersection and street for blocks and blocks before you even got near the parade route.
And I have never seen so many police men and women in my life.
So anyway, right behind the swat vehicles was the parade route. So we were able to see the floats and bands through the trucks so we were really much closer than we had anticipated. The parade got to our spot around 9:30 and by that time, when we looked behind us, the crowd was 20 people deep just like you see on TV.

This was definitely the coldest day we were in New York so we all had on all the clothes we had brought to New York!
Many layers and Stephen had bought us all hand warmers for our mittens, I love my man. He is always taking care of us, in all the big ways and small ways.
The parade was a fun experience, we stayed almost the whole parade with one bathroom break. We even saw Santa arrive on his sleigh!
And while walking back to our hotel we found the cutest hole in the wall Italian restaurant. It was definitely a bit fancier than we were dressed in our parade gear but we were the only ones there when we walked in. And this was authentic Italian waiters and they were so sweet to us! We ordered everything hot we could think of so we could defrost.
After some hang out time, we were ready for our Thanksgiving feast!
We headed to an awesome farm to table restaurant in TriBecca.
Look at these handsome boys I have!
Happy Thanksgiving!
After Thanksgiving dinner, we headed back to Macy's to see more windows and to see how massive the flagship store really is.
Luke and Addison both wrote letters to Santa.
We believe!
What a fantastic week in New York City! It was truly a unique experience and so different than any other vacation we have taken.
I hope the kids have so many great family memories from this trip, I know I do!
