Staycation

The kids had spring break last week and we decided to stay home and have a staycation.  It was nice to fit in all of the things we love doing at home but don't always have time for with school and work and responsibilities.
1. Like dinner on the beach with whip cream strawberry smoothies

2. Like playing on the beach for the sunset.  Goal of the night was to teach Addison how to jump rope with the abandoned rope we found.

3. Like Luke playing pick up beach volleyball with school buddies.

4. Like sand castle time with sisters

5.  Like sand surfing down beach dunes with school buddy, Turner.

6. Like learning a new, creative way to eat giant sugar sticks with your siblings.  This totally cracked me up.

7.  Like pedicures with mommy

8.  Like celebrating baptisms of our two favorite baby friends, Dora and Katherine.

9.  Like sunset boat cruises.

10.  Like movie night on the boat
This was an awesome idea Stephen had and the kids loved it.  After we cruised around to watch the sunset, we waited until dark and set up a movie for the kids to watch on the boat, complete with popcorn and beanbags to sit on.   It was pretty cool to enjoy the moon and stars while watching the movie.  Good call Daddy.

11.  Like fishing on the bayou

12.  Like kayaking on the bayou before the rain came...look at that sky!  What's crazy is the rain never came, but it sure looked like it was coming!

I can't even tell the difference between Stephen and me in these pictures.  That is pretty pathetic.

13.  Like catching Sting Rays!!!!

14. Like visiting the USS Alabama

Luke pretending to be our sea captain.

I'm thinking this would be an awesome idea for the kid's bedroom.

Heading below deck.

So many nooks and crannies to explore in this ship.

Notice the change in weather from the days before.  It was freezing!!!

On top of the submarine, before we explored it's belly.  I got a teeny, tiny bit claustrophobic and panic attacky in the submarine.
Everything was so compact on the submarine, it was really amazing.
15.  Like mommy saying the kids could have cookies as big as their heads.

16.  Like reading to your imaginary class in the middle of Bass Pro Shop.
(Addison loves to read picture books and then show the pictures to her "class" just like her teachers do.  It is truly adorable).

The kids by the fish aquarium and Addison, I think is pretending she is a fish with her gills.

Hey, this IS Mississippi ya'll... we like to shoot things.

17. Like exploring an island all to ourselves

18.  Like making sand castles and sand angels.

19.  Like building an "indestructible fort."

20.  Like realizing your son is just a miniature version of his daddy.
21.  Like decorating Easter eggs
(clothing optional)

22.  Like going to ANOTHER Easter egg hunt
(This one was at our country club and Addison won the prize for collecting the most eggs in her age division!)

23.  Like cuddling with the Easter Bunny.
24.  Like lots of moments just like this one.  I think just to make Mommy laugh.

It was a great Spring Break and now only 20 some days left of school until summer break!!!
