Wisconsin Visit 2010

The Boskovich Family invaded Wisconsin again this summer and packed in as much fun as we could.  We stayed put this year in Milwaukee at my parents house instead of traipsing all over the midwest so it was a very relaxing and fun trip.  Here are the kids with our dear Barbara.  Barbara watched Amelia and Luke when we lived in Indiana back when I still worked (outside the home).  The kids and I were thrilled to see her and Addison took to her also.

Cuddle time with Grandma Nancy.

My sister Amy came over to our parent's house a couple of times which is always a blast.  Amelia and Luke love playing with Annie and Evan and now even Addison wanted to tag along.  Addison gave lots of love to Annie and Evan but she especially loved Evan and kept sitting on his lap and rubbing his curly hair.

The girls in cute matching dresses Grandma Nancy bought them.

My great friend Stacey (my college roomate and sorority sister) and her kids came across Lake Michigan on the ferry to visit with us for a few days.  Our kids had a fun time running around together and Stacey and I got to catch up and laugh about old times.  Ahh, the college years.

Playing on the rocks after a fun day at the children's museum and filing their bellies with ice cream.

So cute, even Addison is saying, "Cheese."

A little swim time.

Playing with Grandma at The Village Club.  Amelia and Luke got to teach Addison about the treat time.  When the whistle blows for adult swim, Grandma buys the grandkids a treat, popsicles for everyone!

Addison loves to swim and walked back and forth between the baby pool and intermediate pool.  We would count 1,2,3 and she would jump into our arms.  Toward the end she would just run off the edge of the deck into the pool yelling, "Three!"  I guess she thought she would just cut to the chase and get to the good part.

We had some big accomplishments this year, jumping off the diving board for the first time!  Go Luke!

This was Mimi's first time off the diving board too but she made Luke go first of course, she is always very cautious.

We were lucky to go to Chicago for an overnight with our sweet friends the Ruzas, our neighbors from Indiana.  We surprised Amelia and Luke and the kids hit it off just like old times.  It was such a wonderful visit with wonderful friends.

Addison at "The Bean."

Hanging out under The Bean.

Playing in the fountains at Millennium Park.

Amelia and Abby about to go into American Girl Place.  They were so excited!

Even big girls love American Girl Place.  The girls each picked out a favorite outfit for their dolls.

Luke and Sam would not be outdone, off to the Lego store for the boys!

Of course Luke picked out a Star Wars lego set for his treat but it had to be small enough to fit in a suitcase.

Addison played with Legos forever.

More hotel pool swimming.  I think if the kids had their choice they would have swam the whole time in the city.  It was 7pm before we remembered, hey we better have some dinner!

The morning we woke up in Chicago, it was Father's Day so Daddy got lots of hugs and love.

Marcie and I by the Chicago River.

Oh how our family has grown since we lived here.  The apartment Steve and I lived in was about a block behind where we are standing.  We were up on the 28th floor and of course had no kids!

Do you see it?  Yup, it's Addison Street.

After Chicago we headed back to my parent's to celebrate Father's Day with my parents and my sister's family.  Happy Father's Day Dad.

Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Jon with the kiddos, we were just missing Max.

Happy Father's Day Grandpa!

Happy Father's Day Daddy, now Daddy is all set...Cubs jersey, Bears jersey and a Blackhawk jersey.

I also got to visit with some of my friends from grade school and high school which is always pretty special.  Look at all those cute kids we've had.

Jamie, on the left, and I have been friends since we were 9 years old and Mary and I have been friends since high school.  Where has the time went?  It was great catching up with old friends and meeting new babies we have had since last time :)

Family Farm Days

The kids got to "get down on the farm" at the annual Farm Days this weekend, here they are with Mckenzie and Hayden.  They learned a lot about different farm life, how sheep are shorn, what farm animals eat, how to compost, all that good farm stuff.  They also learned how local honey is made and tasted a lot of honey, they got to practice milking a cow and earned an ice cream treat for that chore.  We all enjoyed the butter they made by shaking buttermilk in a jar, yummy.
Luke holding a baby chick.  So cute...

Mimi holding the baby chick.  Which of course led to, "Mom, can we get a baby chick?  Please, please."  So I took them to the cage behind the cute baby chicks to show them the big chickens and said, "No cute baby chicks because they turn into loud clucking chickens."  Hmm, quite similar to my adorable, cuddly little babies turning into squawking, loud children.

Speaking of loud squawkers...here is Addison checking out the piglets Amelia and Luke were petting.  Addison thought the baby pigs were pretty funny and was laughing her little head off.

Luke learning how to rope a bull just like the real cowboys.

American Girl Doll camp

Amelia was in six year old heaven last week because she got to attend American Girl doll camp.  Thanks Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Jon!  Each day the campers brought their American Girl dolls and learned about a new girl, her way of life, etc.  Each day the girls did crafts from the era of the dolls, read the books and planned a big birthday party for Samantha (one of the dolls) at the end of the week.  The girls made all the decorations for the party, the pinata and decorated the cupcakes.

Amelia with some of her loot from the week.  She made a pin, yarn doll, pin cushion, paper flowers, party shaker, friendship bracelets and so much more.  It was a pretty cute camp and she couldn't wait to go back each day.

Luke and Addison got to have some fun too while Amelia was at camp.  Thankfully her camp was held at the Children's museum so the little ones got to play while the big one was away.

You know it's a good camp when this happens on the drive home.

Memorial Day Weekend!

What a fun way to start our Memorial Day Weekend.  The kids and I headed over to our sweet friends, the Hudsons, for some water sliding fun!  What a great way for the kids to burn off some energy, they had so much fun on that thing.

All we needed that day was good friends, a good water supply and plenty of watermelon!  I've never seen kids eat so much watermelon so fast :)

My sweet Sunday School class, well we were missing a few.  This Sunday was the last Sunday School day until the fall when my little first graders will move upstairs to the "big kid" hallway!  Good luck in second grade kiddos, love you!

That evening we went to Sounds by the Sea.  It was beautiful to listen to our symphony play all patriotic music while we relaxed by the beautiful coast.  What a great tribute to all of our military and their families.

Snow cone smiles:)
What a relaxing evening.

And of course, FIREWORKS!  The symphony played music during the fireworks too which was pretty awesome.  This year Luke was still hugging my leg and covering his ears but that is one step up from last year when he watched from the van.

On Monday our dear friends the Steens had a good ole fashioned Memorial Day picnic.  Yummy grilled hamburgers and brats (thank goodness they are from the Midwest too so they had brats), blow up pool and bean bag toss, perfection.  Oh, and oddly enough, a very pleasant day outside.  Cool breeze, how did we get so lucky?
The kids had a blast all afternoon in the pool, sprinkler and splash table.  Brought back many fond memories of growing up.

The kids, being kids.

The men, being men.
Addison was happiest when she was on the "sing."

Chatting with the ladies.  Thanks for a great day Jamie and Sharon!
